Renewable Fuel: Biomass waste

ECO2's newest division produces and sells a fuel created from biomass wastes like sugar cane fiber (bagasse). This product surpasses other biomass fuels like charcoal in lighting ability and burn time, is manufactured from a sustainable and renewable source, and reduces GHG emissions. This business tackles the environmental problems associated with unsustainable charcoal production and use in Kenya, one of the leading causes of deforestation.

ECO2's renewable biomass fuel division sells a competitive product comparable to charcoal that is made from biomass waste. The primary waste is bagasse, a fibrous biomass resulting from the commercial production of sugar. This waste is carbonized in large kilns (see photo below) and pressed into a fine burning, renewable fuel called briquettes (see below). Briquettes are sold wholesale to vendors or retail to residential and commercial customers.
